Desiring to better distinguish differences between ellipsoid, geoid and model of the Earth's relief, we made an animation aiming on the general population as targeted viewers. In order to create the animation, we used Blender, GRASS GIS and Windows Live Movie Maker. We used Blender to make the main animation parts and GRASS GIS to change an old scanned map projection from transversal stereographic projection to plate carree projection (equidistant cylindrical projection with equator as the standard parallel). In addition, we used GRASS GIS to make textures for geoid, based on geoid undulations from EGM2008 (Earth Gravitational Model), which we downloaded from the NGA (National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency) web page. When we made all models and their animations, we used Windows Live Movie Maker to make the final animation with accompanying text. We achieved our objective, which was also our motivation for making the animation.
