Hungarian and International Experiences in INSPIRE

Gyula IVÁN, Institute of Geodesy, Cartography and Remote Sensing (FÖMI), Hungary

The INSPIRE Directive strongly influences all NSDI activities both at European and Member State levels. Since INSPIRE is an environmental initiative, it covers special environmental themes, but in the case of reference themes (Annex I and II), it also affects important base data.

The speaker participated as an expert in Data Specification Thematic Working Groups (Cadastral Parcels and Elevation) for INSPIRE in previous years. The presentation deals with work and experiences on international INSPIRE activities, as well as conclusions. Hungary, as a Member State, is forced to introduce and implement the Directive. Implementation of INSPIRE, harmonization of existing data and NSDI with the Directive, insertion of INSPIRE principles into existing legal framework, searching and identification of responsible organisations for different themes are complex and hard work. The presentation deals with these issues, Hungarian solutions and remaining open issues.
